ABOUT TSH RECEPTOR ANTIBODIES TESTS

The TSH Receptor Antibodies (TRAb) test measures the presence of antibodies that bind to thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) receptors. These antibodies can either stimulate or block thyroid function and are most commonly associated with autoimmune thyroid diseases, especially Graves’ disease. The test is important in diagnosing and monitoring autoimmune thyroid conditions and assessing relapse risk.

This test may be right for you if you have symptoms of hyperthyroidism—such as weight loss, rapid heartbeat, or anxiety—or a family history of autoimmune thyroid disorders.

It checks for antibodies that bind to TSH receptors, which can overstimulate or inhibit the thyroid gland.

It helps confirm the diagnosis of Graves’ disease or other autoimmune thyroid conditions and can monitor treatment response or risk of relapse.

No special preparation is needed. It’s a simple blood test.
