ABOUT PTH TESTS
The Parathyroid Hormone Intact (PTH) test measures the amount of intact PTH in your blood. PTH is produced by the parathyroid glands and plays a crucial role in regulating calcium and phosphate levels in the body. This test is commonly used to help diagnose the cause of abnormal calcium levels, detect parathyroid disorders such as hyperparathyroidism or hypoparathyroidism, and monitor patients with chronic kidney disease or those undergoing treatment for calcium imbalances.
This test may be right for you if you have symptoms of calcium imbalance, such as fatigue, muscle cramps, bone pain, or abnormal calcium or vitamin D blood levels.
