ABOUT HEAVY METAL SCREENS

The Heavy Metal Screen is a diagnostic blood test that detects the presence of toxic metals—arsenic, mercury, and lead—that may accumulate due to environmental exposure, contaminated water, industrial materials, or certain foods. Chronic or high-level exposure to these substances can harm your nervous system, kidneys, or cardiovascular health.

You may consider this test if you’ve been exposed to industrial areas, live in an older home, or have consumed potentially contaminated water or fish. It’s also useful if you’re experiencing symptoms like chronic fatigue, headaches, memory problems, or digestive issues without a clear explanation.

The test quantifies levels of arsenic, mercury, and lead in your bloodstream—three metals known to cause serious health concerns even in small doses. Elevated levels may indicate acute or ongoing exposure and guide steps for detoxification or further evaluation.

If results show elevated metal levels, it could suggest recent or ongoing toxic exposure that may require medical attention. Normal or undetectable levels are generally reassuring but should still be reviewed alongside your symptoms and environment by a qualified healthcare provider.

This test doesn’t require fasting, but it’s helpful to let the lab know if you’ve recently eaten seafood or taken supplements, as these may affect your readings.
