ABOUT CADIUM TESTS
The cadmium test checks the level of cadmium—a toxic heavy metal—in your bloodstream. Cadmium exposure can occur through industrial work (such as battery manufacturing or welding), smoking, or contaminated food and water. Elevated cadmium levels may lead to kidney damage, bone weakness, and respiratory issues over time. This test helps detect both acute and chronic exposure, especially in at-risk populations.
This test is recommended if you work in manufacturing, welding, or mining, or if you experience symptoms like kidney problems, breathing issues, or bone pain and suspect heavy metal exposure.
The test measures the concentration of cadmium in your blood to detect recent or long-term exposure.
It will indicate if cadmium levels in your body are elevated, helping guide detoxification strategies and monitor occupational or environmental exposure.
No special preparation is needed. Inform your provider about any recent exposure or occupational hazards.
