ABOUT THE ANA SCREEM
The antinuclear antibodies (ANA) screen checks for the presence of autoantibodies that target substances within the nucleus of your body’s cells. A positive ANA test can indicate an autoimmune response and is commonly used to evaluate symptoms such as joint pain, fatigue, and rashes. While it does not confirm a specific diagnosis, it helps guide further testing for autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren’s syndrome, and scleroderma.
This test is recommended if you’re experiencing symptoms such as chronic fatigue, unexplained joint pain, skin rashes, or if your doctor suspects an autoimmune condition.
