ABOUT ALUMINUM TESTS

The aluminum blood test measures the amount of aluminum in your bloodstream. While aluminum is a common metal found in the environment, excessive exposure can be toxic—especially in individuals with reduced kidney function or those undergoing dialysis. Elevated levels may be linked to neurological symptoms, bone disease, or anemia.

This test is helpful if you are at risk of aluminum exposure due to occupational hazards, dialysis treatment, or symptoms like bone pain, fatigue, or neurological issues.

The test measures the concentration of aluminum in your blood, which helps assess toxic exposure or accumulation.

Results can help diagnose aluminum toxicity or monitor levels in people exposed to aluminum-containing medications or environments.

Avoid using aluminum-containing antacids, cookware, or deodorants for 24 hours prior to testing, if possible. Follow any instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
